Check your battery and or connection.
Does it make any sound while trying to start it?
If it just clicks, it means dead battery or alternator.
Start by putting a tester on the battery.

batteries self-discharge, then having been stored in a discharged state become sulfated. Charge the battery and try again but don't be surprised if it still doesn't work. Get the battery load tested (free at most car parts stores), that's the ultimate test.
Meanwhile, remove, clean and reconnect all the connections battery to solenoid to starter. Make 'em bright and tight. Don't forget the battery negative to engine block ground, and solenoid to ground. Using a known good fully charged battery, measure the voltage at the starter with the key turned to "start" -- if you get over 12V (+/- half a volt), replace or repair the starter.
Bad voltage at the starter, measure the voltage at the solenoid input terminal (small terminal leading from the keyswitch).
Bad voltage there, troubleshoot keyswitch, neutral safety switch (if equipped), emergency kill switch (if equipped), wiring harness.
Good voltage at the solenoid input terminal, replace solenoid. |
