I ran a red light tonight...?
|
Driving home tonight with my wife in the car I didn't know where I was going. I thought to turn right but as I started to turn right she said no not right and yelled out straight, without thinking (while I was at a red light) I stepped on the gas and began through the intersection, she screamed and I looked to my left as a car came screaming towards me sliding because of the brakes. I talked to him and he seems cool about it, told me to be careful next time and watch out. (wheww, thank god). But I now feel really bad about doing this, I have never done it before and promised my wife and myself never to do it again. But I still feel terrible, I don't even want to drive anymore. How do I get this out of my head!? Any similar experiences with you guys?

It will stick in your head for a little while, but eventually it will fade. You made a mistake, but nobody was hurt. It isn't the end of the world. You'll learn from it and be more careful next time, so this is really a learning experience.
The same thing happened to me, except in my case I was distracted by my cell phone. I ran the red light. Luckily nobody was coming and there was no accident, but I was paranoid I would get a ticket thanks to our red light cameras (I didn't). For a long time, this was on my mind. I am much more careful about traffic lights and using my phone now. |

Yeah mate. Your first big mistake always sticks in your head for a while. Be thankful nobody was hurt.

You just sound a little rattled and you will be fine next time you get behind the wheel. Just drive careful.
I was in a car wreck and I don't drive much anymore; don't let that happen to you. If you are afraid drive when the traffic is lighter and don't think too much about it or you won't want to drive like me. Like they say get back on the horse. Good luck. |

Its OK it was a complete accident, it happens to be people all the time and it may even been a reaction to your wife yelling at you and she probably spooked you. Maybe if she did'nt yell this would have never happend. |

Yeah, I've done it before. I know it's scary. Luckily I've never been in an accident from running a red light. Don't let it scare you out of driving again. Because of this experience, you'll be more cautious at traffic lights. |

LOL I just ran my first one the other day. i was driving thru the city which i had done many times before but i usually do this at night coming home from my meetings. well it was daylight and i didnt see the lights being they are on a pole on the sidewalk rather than on lines above/across the road. luckily no cars were coming but i had my hubby and son with me (and im prego). scared the crap out of me still even tho nobody was coming. makes me realize i need to be more cautious. just be careful but dont worry. feel lucky!! it was your lucky day |

i know somebody that ran a redlight on there driving test and they were almost hit by another car. if i were you i would just be glad i was safe, and whenever you drive nowyou should try to be aware. but do something fun that you enjoy, if you read a book that interests you that should take your mind off it. everybody makes mistakes. |
