I sufferd a minor injury as the result of a traffic accident?

I was taken to the local hospital where I was checked over. What should the driver have done legally? as I am not sure if he reported it. I have his details. This happened to me as a pedestrian.What happens if I suffer physical problems in the future as a result ?

The driver's first responsibility was to stop and give you his name and address, the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and the number of the vehicle. As you were injured, he should have produced to you his certificate of insurance. If he did not do either of these things (e.g. if he did not have his certificate of insurance with him), he must report the accident at a police station as soon as reasonably practicable and in any case within 24 hours. As a pedestrian you did not have any such responsibility, but you can report the accident to the police if you wish to allege that he was driving carelessly. There is little chance that the police will do much because much of the evidence will have been lost, but in case of future problems it will help to have the accident on record. |

He should have contacted the police to report the accident, did he admit that he was a fault?
My advice would be a contact a road traffic accident lawyer and begin proceeding against him for damages.
You may not have problems now but in the future who knows?
Any case that is taken out will be against his insurance company and not him as an individual.
