I totaled my car im too scared to drive what do i do?

how long does it take to get over a wreck after you total your car im so scared i jus keep picturing it in my mind and i go to school and have two jobs i need to drive

This was the hardest thing for me to do when I had my first accident. But my sister was absolutely right that I needed to get into the car and drive again.

Just pick a time of day when there isn't a lot of traffic. Go to someplace where there's a big parking lot without much traffic (industrial park, etc) and just drive till you're calm again.

Always leave yourself a way out. Don't tailgate or do distracting things while driving, especially if you drive a manual.

Get some time behind the wheel again, preferably when there are not that many people on the road (like at night).

force yourself to picture a positive outcome of driving. check out books in the library or bookstore about it. replay the accident and think what you couldve done different to avoid it, keep replaying the positive outcome for next time.

Your driving safe will definitely influence your chances.

Bear in mind that most people travel by car every day.

If it makes you uncomfortable (which is perfectly natural), then it's completely fine to avoid cars for a while.

Don't torture yourself if you're uncomfortable.

On the other hand, don't use this tragedy as an excuse.

If you stopped doing everything that ever hurt anyone, you wouldn't be allowed to do anything ever.

Value life instead of fearing it.
