Air bags usually only deploy in a front end crash or from the side if equipped with side impact air bags. Glad that you're ok.

It would depend on the angle/speed of impact, wouldn't it? If you are going forward, and the semi is moving in the same direction, I would think it would depend on the severity of the collision and possibly the type of car you are driving. I was in the passenger seat of a RAV4 a few years back, and some fool trying to beat out a red light slammed into our car as we were making a left hand turn. He clipped the back of our car at full steam (there were no skid marks to indicate he tried to stop or even slow down), and spun us around. Our front airbags deployed, I'm guessing because we lost control of the car. Good thing, too, as we probably would have gotten really hurt otherwise. A bit different than your experience, but the same principle would apply. |
