I was hit by a car as I was ?

I was struck about 20 minutes ago in Philadelphia, crossing at an intersection on the crosswalk. I was hit with enough force to go up the hood and over the side of her car. I'm still a little shaky from the shock. I have her license plate and her description. She got out of the car to apologize while I gathered some items I purchased for work. I don't think I'm injured, but I want to know what I should do.

Ok, it's been 24 hours. I've called the police, went to the emergency room, had some x-rays taken on my knee and spine, filed a report at the precinct (after the police didn't show up TWICE after 3.5 hours of waiting and four calls).

I have a clean bill of health, a prescription for high strength Ibuprofen, and a rather sore back and knee.

This is one of those very fishy "questions" that we're not getting the whole story on.

First of all, why did you leave the scene of the accident? Secondly, the person that hit you should have stayed with you at the scene. The thing is if you were struck you are not supposed to leave the scene. Both of you are required to wait until the authorities come and then both of you file a police report. If you left or if she left there isn't much you can do with the exception of calling the police and reporting this driver. But you should have stayed at the scene, called the authorities and then given your side of the story.

You SHOULD have gone straight to the hospital. You have NO idea what kind of injuries you might have sustained. It may be nothing or it may be something more serious that you won't feel until much later.

I can almost guarantee that you WILL be sore by tonight, or, at least, by tomorrow morning. This is often the case in collisions. The thing is, you may have some serious internal injuries or even some fractures in critical places such as your spine or other bones.

It is one thing to be shaken up in your seatbelt inside your car. Quite another thing to be struck by two tons of metal.

Don't wait another second. Call your doctor. Better yet, get to an emergency room or critical care clinic as soon as you can. Let them examine you and recommend other tests and scans. If the worse you get are some bruises, then consider yourself lucky. If not, then better you find out now and get started on appropriate therapy before injuries get worse.

Don't worry so much about the medical costs. Even if you are given a clean bill of health, HER insurance company should take care of those. Remember, don't sign anything her insurance company until, at least, YOUR doctors clear you medically. Although I dislike ambulance chasers, if you get pressured to sign a release, you should consult YOUR own attorney before you do.

Yeah, call a lawyer, and you should also probably call the police and give the her liscene plate number, She doesnt need to be doing this. She could accidently do it again and kill someone. the police need to know about this.

Report it but why if just got hit you somehow the time to ask this on Yahoo..........call the police get a report and take it from there.
