Probably not important, but it is a 97' Pontiac Sunfire and oil light comes on sometimes as I round a turn. It needs a quart every three weeks, but there is no smoke nor is there a oil puddle in my park space.

Yes it is a fire hazzard. Use a funnel to avoid future spills. It's saffer for you and the environment. |

i would say no but i saw my dad do it, start a fire, while putting oil in his car and you shouldn't need to add oil in between oil changes something isn't right. |

It can catch on fire.... but MOST of the time it'll just smoke like hell.... If you don't have one, invest in a funnel. I'd also try a new PCV valve if you havn't already. Ask a auto parts store about it if you don't know what it is. |

well i have seen oil go up before, but i would wait till the engine cools a little first after all you cannot get a true level if the engine hasnt settled
As for the light going on when you round a turn, could be a short if the dipstick has a sensor. My friend had a Ford XR3i ( british ) and the light kept coming on, so we had to solder the wires back on the top of the stick and it went off. it may only be happening as you round a corner if the wire is moving under slight force. I know that might seem far fetched, but hey, we've all watched star trek too!! |

In most cases it will burn off as soon as it hits them. If you adding that much oil you really need to have your car looked at. A car should not be burning that much oil. |

no it not a big dell it will just smoke and smell till the oil burns off its not flammable or the oil container would have to have a Waring on it |
