If another driver ticks you off, how do you handle it?
|
I generally shake my head and I might beep the horn, but other then that, I just drive on.
A few days ago, I was in the right lane and there was a green delivery truck stopped. There was a pickup truck stopped ahead of me. I looked in my mirrors to see about changing to the left lane. After 2 cars went by, the lane was clear, so I went to the left lane and then the stopped delivery truck changed lanes in front of me. I thinking to myself, "okay pick one lane or another." Well, it turned out the delivery truck needed to turn left at the intersection ahead. I hate it when someone would stop in the lane you're in because they didn't plan ahead to get in the correct lane.
So, how do you handle your stress if another driver did someone to get you angry? Would you start driving aggressively? Would you follow them? Would you tailgate them to piss them off or try to freak them out? Would you flip them the bird? Would you scream at them through the window? Would you pretend to try to run them off the road? None of these are recommended of course.
Like I said, I normally just shake my head and drive on. I may beep my horn, but most of the time I don't even though I have in the pasted. I remember one time there was this car in the left lane on the interstate that was taking forever to pass a semi truck and I just lost patient and started beeping the horn. Flashing my lights didn't work. I hate slow drivers in the left lane. Additional Details StephenWeinstein: You didn't answer my question, so I don't know why you answered to give me that load of crap. I didn't say nothing about flashing the high beans at night. I never done that before. I only flashed the lights during the daylight. And I'll use my horn whenever I want to especially when some idiot won't pick up speed in the left lane. And everyone knows you shouldn't take a long time passing a semi truck. A tire could blow out or anything can go wrong.

I usually just take a deep breath and move on. It does no good whatsoever to get angry with other drivers, and I've learned that over the past few years. Just recognize the mistake they made, and since you know how it made you feel, be sure to try to never do the same thing to anyone else.
It sounds like you usually handle things pretty well, so just keep that up. Next time you come up on a slower driver taking a while to pass a truck, just be patient and take a deep breath. They might just be trying to do what they think is safe (even though it is wrong), or maybe they just lost focus for a moment and didn't realize they were holding you up. They are only human, and we all make mistakes. I can see why this could cause you to lose patience, but just rise above it. This is coming from someone who has a bad temper also. Don't do anything to let them know they pissed you off, such as tailgate them or flick them off, because that is exactly what some of them want. And if you get angry at them, this will only take your attention away from driving safely.
I've seen some of your answers on here before, and you seem to know what you are talking about. So don't let others out there get to you. Just take a deep breath, and realize that there are many many better things to get angry about, such as the government for example! Hope this helps. |

I just ignore it, for the most part. Unless someone has done something REALLY stupid or dangerous and I feel the need to speak my mind, I'll just keep my mouth shut and keep driving.
I used to be a very aggressive driver...using my horn, cussing people out, flipping people the bird...but it wasn't doing my blood pressure any good so I just decided to let people be stupid and go on about my business.
I'm not going to risk my own safety for some slight lapse in judgment. It's just not worth it.

I try to give the other driver the benefit of the doubt and figure he may not be from the area, and just go about my day. While he was stopped he may have been looking up directions or calling someone for them, it does no one any good to get over excited about it as long as no one got hurt or injured, i recommend just going about your day. |

It really depends on the mood I'm in. I normally just shake my head and go on but if the other driver really ticks me off I may beep my horn at them and blurt out a few bad words even though I know the other driver cannot hear me. LOL |

If a guy (any age) gives me the finger or yells at me, I laugh. Laughing at a man (any age) REALLY ticks them off. I love playing with those fragile male egos. |

Look I don't drive yet, but if somebody does something that annoys the crap out of me I'm sorry to say that I would probably give them the finger. |

sounds to me like the truck done the same thing you did. Is it possible the truck driver did not know what lane he needed to be in until the last moment. You sound like a spoiled brat who thinks i'm special and everyone better get out of my way<
all kinds of people out there you need to get used to them doing all kinds of things |
