In places all atound the world there are tracks where you can take your stock to slightly modified car to and get a time slip etc.
Now in most cases the car is governed by standard tires ie 90mph/145km to 110mph/177km
In the effect you want to take it to the track and know that the thing can do lets say 160mph but it is only governed at 90mph you will have to turn off that governor now doing this alone will not void MOST warranties but going the 160mph or whatever the computer deems excessive speed will.
So they up the speed to a moderate level (90mph) to keep you from touching the computer and voiding the warranty.

A more powerful engine means that it doesn't work as hard, when going at the "snail's pace" of 55 mph. In theory, then, it should last longer.

There is no speed limit on the Autobahn and speed limits are different in different places. It would make no sense to make many versions of cars to suit various speed limits in different places all over the world.
I lived in Bermuda several years ago and the speed limit was 20 mph and I owned a Fiat. Fiat did not make a car especially for Bermuda, it would not be economically feasible |
