If guardrails were high voltage and had sharp spikes, would lives be saved?

Soft guardrails, and break-away posts are causing many more deaths...shouldn't we try some serious incentives on the side of our freeways?

Nah, you'd just get some bleeding-heart whiners going on about how "unsafe" the roads were then. Granted, these are the same people that talk on the phone while driving solo in their Suburbans, so their opinion isn't worth much to anyone but lobbyists.

So you're implying people run into them intentionally, and just fear of being killed BY the guardrails would keep people away from them?

You don't really understand the concept of what an "accident" is, do you?

The Mr. Pine
Those are not breakaway posts. I have seen some that did not give way and saved a life.

Did you write the script for the 'Road Warrior"?

Walter G
I guess that would be lawsuit city. People sue when something might not be quite right. Intentionally doing this isn't going to win the hearts and minds of the public.

Yeah Cuz Whenever I Go Out Driving I totally plan on hitting guardrails but i guess that might keep me off them

no but everyone should be forced to drive a car made of glass. so if the impact did not kill you the shards of glass surely would

How are you going to save lives by electrocuting guard rails? Wouldn't making them stronger be enough?
