Even if the government is the cause of a mandatory seatbelt law, are we really this stupid to bicker over the fact that we HAVE to protect ourselves because we're not intelligent enough to do so on our own? Some people are just too arrogant or stupid to wear one even though it's proven to protect you versus not wearing one, government involvement or not. And besides, if someone hits me head-on, I don't want their dead body projecting through my windshield and possibly killing me, just because they were too dumb not to wear a seatbelt or defiant simply because the goverment says you have to. Clueless people, I swear. |

Because the people did not get to vote for or against it. |

Because conservative = COMMY
And because an accident costs the state a tow truck.
A dead body cost the state millions in investigation and hospital fees |

This is a law in my state. It seems to be a matter of money making. Yes they say it is to save lives, and it probably does.
But on the same Principal, If cigarettes are killing people why are they not against the law also??? Money? |

Because the government feels we are too stupid to make decisions on our own. |

The reason people are asked to wear seat belts is because the state could be sued by people who are too stupid to wear seat belts. So sad but so true. I think it is sad how sue happy people have become. |

Its due to conspiracy among the Insurance company and government officials. |

If people want to murder people why is there a law against it? |

because sometimes they can save a life and sometimes they can take a life, they would like to believe that the seat belts save lifes all the time and that why they want you to wear them and i believe ita a law in all states |

The insurance lobbyists got in there. More people are hurt when they don't wear seat belts, therefore, more medical expense involved, bigger pay outs that the insurance companies have to make. It's wise to wear one, but I agree that it should be an individuals decision. |

Just how many of you nimrods understand what communism is? For those of you with a grasp of politics, do you understand that true communism does not exist in our world? You can debate all day and all night about the government's role in mandating seat belts versus the personal choice of wearing one or not, but just exactly where does communism fit into this picture? |

I agree with everyone else. I think it's stupid, though, that states even had to make this law. As Carlos Mencia (Mind of Mencia) said, if people don't want to wear seat belts that will save their lives, then they deserve to die. |

jus because they dont want to doesnt mean they shouldnt make a law for it its for safety reasons |

Because the Government has influance in everything in our life. They tell us what we can and can't do. They tell us what we can/can't consume. I say as long as we don't hurt anyone else it should be okay to do. But I am not the Government. |

1. It is a prov-en fact seat belts save lives,
2. They save you money, prevent tickets Click it or tick-it
I am a firm beliver in them have been since 1973 , have had one accident behind the wheel before the airbag and yes the belt did it's job, and that was before it became law. so yes they work and they save |

I believe that it should be a person's own choice, but if it weren't a law, people wouldn't take it seriously and wearing a seatbelt will save lives many times more than not. I don't believe one bit that it has anything to do with communism or the gov't controlling us. I don't imagine a big gov't official standing on the side of the road saying 'Hell yeah! You see him wearing his seatbelt? Next step is world domination!!!' |
