The states with Castle Doctrine laws usually do not extend to vehicles, it is to protect you when someone is breaking into your home.
Most of the time just yelling at the person attempting to break into your car will scare them off. Then call 911 & give them as much info as you can describing the person & the direction he ran off in.
You could be charged with assault if you would hit & injure the person breaking into your car. Especially in any of the cities or state that penalize you for protecting your property. Every so often I see in the news where a would be thief is injured breaking into someone's home & the court awards him damages & the homeowner is penalized for protecting his home.
Another point the police will look at & if it is deemed that the use of a BB gun in that situation was excessive force, and again, you could be the one charged with a crime instead of the person attempting to break into your car. |

well in missouri your able to protect your self and prop- and as long as you dont maim or kill the crim, or hit anybody else- what the prob.....i use one for protection when im doing bussiness..will take a an auto window...making it easer for cops to identify robber- and there quiet |

just call the cops, if you shoot a BB gun at them then you'll have to be the one to pay for glass it breaks or it will be a little ding in the paint, plus one or more of them could have a gun and shoot at you and all you'll have is a little BB gun |

It really depends on a number of factors, one of which is the state you live in and whether or not it has a Castle Doctrine law. |

if u fire a any type of gun at someone on public property then u will go to jail for assault with a deadly weapon. now, if it was your property, like in the country, you could shoot him just for stepping on your land. i've done it before and did not get charged with anything |
