Stop the other traffic keep them calm and still. Don't let them move. Call for help. Pressure on any bleeds wait for real emts or help. Pray! |

call 911. If you want to help you need to know if your state has good samaritan laws. In some states you are protected from prosecution if your help backfires. |

call 911, check for breathing and pulse, if they are not breathing start cpr if they are breathing apply pressure to any wounds bleeding badly and cover them up to keep them from going into shock |

If someone is hit by a car and you are a witness, you must first call 911. Calling the police and or medical emergency alerts them to the situation. Also whatever you do, do not touch or move the victim if they are hurt in a substantial way. You want to avoid a lawsuit at any cost. If you try to move the injured victim and you further hurt them, then you are liable and they can sue you. Wait with the victim until help arrives. Once help arrives tell the police what you saw if you saw anything, because you are deemed the witness in this situation. Now if you are the one driving and you hit the person, never leave. Get out of your vehicle and once again, call the authorities and medical emergency. Wait with the victim and then give an account for your actions. |

the best way for you to help is become certified to help. your local fire station probably offers first aid and cpr training if you need to know all the details. |
