If you're taking your driving test in the rain, how far under the speed limit should you drive?

I've already failed once, and I'm so nervous to take it tomorrow cus the weather's going to be rainy. I don't do very well under pressure. Also, any tips in general are welcome.

There is no set speed that you can go, nor is there any set speed that you can be told to go. As for any change in the weather, you go as fast (up to the posted limit that is) or slow as the conditions allow that will still allow you to maintain control of the vehicle & operate it in a safe manner.
You may be in a thunderstorm today & still be safe doing 55, but during the next thunderstorm, on the same road, you can only be able to safely go 45.
If the pressure is too great for you, then see if you can reschedule until another day when the weather is nicer. |

It's important to know how well the car you're driving can handle bad conditions. If it's not that rainy and the roads are just alittle wet going about the speed limit should be okay. If it's raining heavily and/or there are lots of puddles you should probably slow down another 5 mph. |

Well first you go the Speed Limit OR UNDER when taking a driving test, never go with that 5 over thought, the person giving the test will say the speed limit is that. So in the bad weather you go by how bad the weather is. Go 5 mph under the limit, or more, but it depends on how bad the weather is. |

You do not necessarily need to go below the speed limit, it is the gap between you and the car in front that needs to be increased. Your stopping distance will take longer now. Do not go any more than 5mph below the speed limit otherwise you could get marked down for slow progress. Just make sure to not get too close behind the car in front and check your mirrors, apply your brakes etc a little earlier than usual. Be positive and don't worry about any errors you make during the test, continue as best as you can throughout the test. Goodluck to you, you can do it! x |

Most DMVs cancel road tests when it's raining. You need to call to find out if yours is still scheduled. As for pressure, don't scare yourself. Think about what you learned in driver's education and road practice and use it.
