If you are paralysed say from a car crash can you still speak?

I'm writing a short story to do with a car crash ward at a Hospital. And i need one person who can not move but talk.

It depends on where the injury was, but it is possible. It's your story - you make up the rules. They call it poetic license.

Well, Williams Formula1 Team boss Sir Frank Williams seems to be able to....... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Williams

it depends which area of the body was paralyased but most people can, but if youre making up a story then use your imagination

A person who is paralysed by being involved in a car accident, will speak ok as long as there hasnt been any injury to the brain , neck area around throat vocal cords etc.
Re the brain, it will depend on what part is affected and how bad the trauma is to the brain

A paralysed person can generally speak unless there has been a throat injury as well. Rather glad I am not in the hospital where the car crash took place!

Oh yes, quite possible. Just depends where the injury was.

yes you can still speak as long as your not paralysed from the neck up

WelshLad
If you are paralysed from the waist down - then you cannot move your legs. You can still talk.

Its up to what exactly will be paralysed, just part of the body or brain as well. In that case person will be dumb, unfortunately,
