So at school, this lady told my friend that she couldn't park in the student parking lot even though it was right afterschool. instead, she pointed to the side even though it was a no parking zone. since the lady was an employee of the school, we followed orders. now my friend has a ticket. can we turn the ticket invalid?

The school officials don't make the traffic laws. You should have known better than to listen to her. She's not a cop and had know right to tell you to park there. |

The only way you would have recourse is if the lady that told you to park there is the one that ticketed you as well. Even if she admitted that she told to park there, she did so without authorization, so its not valid advice, the same as if i told you it was ok to rob a bank, you are still responsible for your own actions. the no parking zones are there in case of emergency and need to be clear in case of fire or other emergency, next time don't leave the car unattended, usually if someone is there to move the car they would tell you to move it and not ticket you. |

it all depends..but in your case, yes i think it would be ok that the ticket is invalid. since someone of authority told you to park there, it's not necessarily your fault.. |

That's jacked up. Sounds like she told your friend to park in the no parking zone and then called parking enforcement right after that. Confront the lady about it and next time don't listen to her and park in the student parking. That's what it's there for right?
Sounds like the employee doesn't like you guys. It could of been a coincident but I doubt that.
You could try to fight it but, there is probably nothing you can do besides ask the employee that for some reason told you to park there and not in the student parking to pay for it. Ask why they said you couldn't park in student parking? |
