YOU hit a stationary object. The fact that it was not parked "properly" has no bearing on the fact that you are supposed to have full and complete control of your vehicle at all times!!!!!
You should take responsibility for your actions. You, or your insurance company should pay for the total cost of repairs, and you should pay for a rental vehicle for her while the car is in the shop.
You also need to adjust your attitude, and not try to blame others for your mistakes!!!!! |

If you fail to see how obvious the answer is to your own question your should immediately forfeit your license and buy a nice pair of shoes. |

Car in motion is always considered at fault over one that was not.
It's your responsibility to ensure that the moving car has enough clearance and is safe to move. |

any time you hit a parked car,it is your fault. dont matter how the parked car was parked. |

Duh.
Yes, it's your fault. |

Yep, the car in motion is always at fault in a situation with a parked car..parked legally or not. If you couldn't exit, you should've asked her to move her car. |

Yup, you are responsible. If you're roommate didn't give you enough room, you should have asked him/her to move the car. |

Its still you fault. |

Did you think about asking her to move it? That obvious aspect aside, yes, it is your fault. Apply the same logic to hitting a pedestrian...if they're not in the crosswalk, is it their fault for getting hit? |

What, there is some new rule about that it's okay to hit and damage a vehicle under certain conditions? Do you know how silly that sounds? If you hit and damaged a car, you are responsible for making the owner of the property whole. Period. |

Yes, if I hit a car - it's your fault. |

Yes, you are responsible. You are always responsible for taking care to assure that your way is clear.
What would have happened if it was a person? I know, I know, it WASN'T but by law you have to drive like it could have been. |

still your fault, you hit it and the law will tell you that you didn't have control of your vehicle. |

Well, if you couldn't exit easily, you shouldn't have tried to exit!!!
Of course it's your fault! |

My Friend,
I'm afraid the fault is yours. You could have gotten your room mate to move the car, or waited to leave, so many possibilities. You could plead you case to your room mate, but in the end you are at fault. |

I once hit a parked car and the owner of the car was cited and had to pay for my damage. A vehicle cannot be more than 18 inches away from the curb while parked. |

i wish i knew you long before i had any of my accidents.. haha. ud be broke, since it would have been ALL your fault. |

Your question is worded so poorly that I cannot understand how anyone can answer it with a straight face. I sure can't. You are asking me that if I hit an improperly-parked car, is it YOUR fault? Let's say that YOU hit the car and you want to know if it's YOUR fault. Of course it is. The world is full of people who can't wait to blame someone else for their screw-ups. What you should have done is to gone back in the house, pulled her off her boyfriend, put a robe on her, and made her move her car. |

Your car insurance is responsible for the damages. You hit the car |

Yes its your fault!!!!!!!!!! Had it been a child would you have ran him/her over as well...for they were in your way??...Usually when one car is totally aprked...its the moving cars' fault...imagine that! |
|

Sandy

I work for an insurance company...sometimes its good but other times its not coz I know its usually my fault...in your case it would be called inattentive driving. although I agree that it should be 50/50 fault its still your fault because there was no movement from the other vehicle. hope you don't have too much damage |
|

krixter
 |
yes it is your fault technically because you are the one who is supposed to be watching out for things like that. Not to come out harsh or anything, but that is how it works. Just like if you rearend someone who suddenly skidded to a hault. It is his fault he did that, but you still could've prevented the accident. Laws are stupid, but that's how it is. |

Not necessarily. Years ago, I parked my car in a parking spot in front of a Western Auto store while I ran in to get a part and my car poped out of gear and rolled back into an SUV parked long way behind me. I felt so bad for the guy because his car was brand new, but when the cop came he ticketed the guy for parking illegally and I was let go with no charges. |

well if she didn't park it so u could get out easily then it is not your fault.....You should explain it to her in a kind way so she doesn't think that u r calling her a bad driver..... It was not your fault so don't feel bad |
