No it's against the law. But I would put my flashers on. I'm sure the bus driver will take that into consideration. |

Tina R
I would say yes; just be careful not to hit any children. |

gospel_singing_pooh

yes, if they're getting on the bus i would say so. If they were getting off i would be hesitant. the passenger needs medical assistance fast thats why. |

I would throw the pregnant bit#h out of the car. I dont want those baby cuckas in my car. that be nasty! |

NO. you can not pass it is against the law. Why?
because kids are getting on the bus for the kids safety
the bus should not be passed until the stop sign on the
bus goes down. |

kemosabbe
No!!! First, that's why you should have called an Ambulance, not drive in the car!!!
Second, a woman having a baby is NOT an Emergency in most cases. It is natural and not a Medical Emergency.
Going around a Stopped School Bus with red flashers operating and a stop sign out, means STOP! Not go around because you want to. If you did and took a life or ruined someone for life, all because you didn't call the Ambulance!! |

Drive very slowly around the school bus with your four way flashers on and then proceed to the hospital. |

newingtonnewington
you wouldn't stop but you wouldn't speed through it either, just go slow, so you don't hit anyone, and then take off after you have passed the point. |

NO... it's never OK to drive around a school bus... if she waited that long before having you drive her to the hospital, then she can just wait a few minutes until you can pass the school bus safely. |

MYRA C
Absolutely not. You could accidentally injure or kill a child. Phone 911 for assistance to get to hospital safely. This is not a situation that is happening now or you wouldn't have posed the question. Maybe you found yourself in situation once - may be panicked - well we all panic once in a while. Never put anyone else at risk. |

why do those kids going in have a priority over your passenger's kid coming out?
sounds like a double standard to me... |

I would not recommend driving around a stopped schoolbus. That would pose a high element of danger in addition to the concern you would already be exhibiting. But you should be able to pass as soon as the bus was prepared to roll again. |

:( life is a *****
no because your child is not going to die neither is your wife but you could hit and kill a child by going around the bus |

nutmegnc
nope might hit a child. Try to get the bus drivers attention and go from there. |

here in the UK the laws are different, regarding the school buses, I would hope you could be allowed to pass if your baby was on the way though! |

If the lights are flashing, you may not go around the bus. Doing so could cost the life of a child. A medical condition does not supercede the law.
If the labour is progressing that quickly, the passenger should already be in an ambulance.. |

bungee
no there is no legal way to drive around a bus if their red lights are on |

Yeahhoo P
of course not. don't break any laws |

Jo
No. If you are going to be a good parent, you wouldn't want that to be your child crossing the road and someone going by the stopped bus because the passenger was in labor.
If she was that far into labor that you can't afford a few extra seconds in the car, you should have called an ambulance. |

Sandy Sandals
No. You cann't endanger the lives of a children even if the birth is immenet. If that's the case you need to pull over and call 911. Labor can take hours and is NOT a medical emergency. |

mageta8
Technically no...the bus driver is going to take you license plate number regardless because he/she doesn't know the person in the car is in labor. You will get a ticket mailed to you. You can fight the ticket and explain why you had to pass the bus. Might win, might not. |

no wait untill the kids are on the bus. Then safely pass once you both are moving. My cousin was ran over by a car that was passing his bus and now he's in a wheel chair for the rest of his life! It doesn't take that long for kids to get on a bus. |

BALUGA-TY for votes glad I help
NO, KIDS COULD GET HIT BY A CAR AND DYE, IF YOU ARE IN THAT MUCH OF A RUSH THEN CALL AN AMB. OR POLICE OFFICER TO ESCORT. 2 MIN SHOULDN'T MAKE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE USUALLY YOU GET ADVANCE NOTICE |

just me
no its the law!!!! |

Julie
If it was me in labor... you better drive around the bus. I don't care what the law says. But just be careful not to hit the kids... turn on your hazard lights and just pray the police didn't see you. If you wanna wait thats fine.. and prolly the right thing to do.. but like i said.. if I were to be in labor.. whoever is driving would FIND a way around that bus |

haven
No, it's not alright. Kids won't understand that you are in a huge hurry because youre in labor when one of them accidentally steps out in the road and in front of your car. They only understand that their parents told them its safe to walk when the bus stops and the STOP sign comes out. |

Michael
Yes. The kids are entering the bus, not exiting. There is not really a safety issue for the children as long as you would make a stop and then proceed cautiously. It is surely against the law but I believe that if I were a police officer that saw this, I would escort you to the hospital without giving a ticket. |

David T
No. You must stop for all school busses. The baby will wait. |

Stevie W
NO because it is the law, it is unmoral, and you could kill a kid. Also, the person in labor isn't going to die if they are 30 seconds late to the delivery room. |

Stop means stop. |

In the eyes of the law, it's probably illegal as regardless to the situation inside the car you're still breaking driving rules.
However, police would likely be lenient in this situation, there have been cases in the past of cops pulling cars which are speeding on their way to hospital, but then when they were told about the situation actually have given the driver a blue light escort. |
