bad? Im driving up an a mazda CX-7...I guess my question is, will i have a bad and dangerous drive or must i switch my tires to snow tires for this trip?

It all depends on what class road you are going on. Class one is the highway, definitely no need for snow tire on that. Huge plows go by all the time... Class two is a state highway like Rt. 30 or Rt. 9 in southern Vermont which both take you to ski resorts. Those are fine too unless you are leaving really early in the morning after a snow storm because it sometimes takes a few hours for the plows. Class 3 is a normal paved road which is a toss up about the tires. If it is a steep drive it might be good but overall, I would not need them. I've lived in Vermont for quite a while and never used snow tires on those type os roads. Class 4 is a regular dirt road of which there are many in Vermont. For those, I would recommend snow tires if you are not used to icy driving. Class 5 is pretty much a long dirt driveway. Those need snow tires but you probably won't be going up there unless you're visiting a friend. Class 6 is a logging track that is virtually inaccessible by any vehicles other than ATV's and dirtbikes. Overall, I would say that snow tires are not necessary.

It is your call, but when I drove that area this time of year, I had snow tires all the way around on my FWD.

You should probably have snow tires. I drove my mustang with all season tires up there a few years ago on a ski trip. Driving on the major roads wasn't bad. But I must have gotten stuck a dozen times in the various parking lots and on the small road to the house we rented.

I'm not too far over the border in Albany, NY, and the roads here are all clear of snow. The weekend forecast for Burlington is sunny. You'll probably be okay. with all-seasons.
