No, it's not illegal

You could buy your mum a copy of the highway code which states: "You should ensure that clothing and foot-ware do not prevent you using the controls in the correct manner". A lack of foot-ware does not prevent the correct use of controls, whereas particularly high-heeled shoes might.

However, I would recommend that you at least have a pair of shoes in the back of your car when driving. The reason being that if you are involved in a traffic accident there may well be a lot of broken glass about, so a pair of shoes would really come in handy!

No it's fine...there is no law against it.

In fact for women who wear high heeled shoes...it is actually safer if they take them off to drive.

I don't think it is illegal. I think it's just recommended that you wear appropriate footwear :)

im not sure if there is no law for or against it but you should just in case. ive seen some nasty foot injuries when an accident happened and they were driving with flipflops on their feet. if there is a law against it then its probably for your own safety.

no its not illeagal cops rnt gonna pull everyone over to check that they're wearing shoes

It is not illegal, however, should you have a crash, you could have two problems.

ONE - Police will assume that wearing shoes has not contributed to the crash, however, if the driver was barefoot, Police investigators will then examine that area to see if being barefoot contributed to the crash.

TWO - Many insurance companies have a specific clause in the motor vehicle insurance policy that will automatically void the insurance if the driver does one of several things such as driving drunk, illegal racing, criminal activity and driving whilst barefoot.

it is illegal take my word for it

Im with Oz M i think its not illegal but for insurance purposes the insurance companies will once again try and void their contracted to get out of an insurance claim if you happen to have an accident
