if your car has back seats you LEGALY can not
if its a 2 seat only you need to contact the NTSB and give them a good reason and the request a passenger AB cut off switch. if its aproved you will get the forms
next problem if MINI does not make a switch then it can not be done, if they do then you have to find a dealer to install it, most dealers won't take the liablity to add it, but if one does then your OK, but before you sell the car the AB cut off switch MUST be removed and returned to MINI. |

My answer would be never put a childs life at risk based on the answers you receive on yahoo. Go and get the owners manual for your car and if you don't have one go and get one !

Is there a key/slot in the glovebox to disable it? that is the case on VW/Audi.

contrary to an earlier answer BMW mini will not turn the airbag off, since its a safety device and they would be liable for any injuries or deaths in the event of an accident. my wife went to a vw centre and had the same problem. she eventually got it done at a garage that specialised in German cars, i don't know wether there is one in your area but you could do a web search. it cost my missus 45 quid and they put a sticker on the dash. |

On the side of the dash on the nearside the should be a key hole, insert your ignition key and turn. That's how it is on most cars. |

babies are supposed to ride in the back seat facing backwards for their protection. It is too dangerous for them to be in the front - airbag or not.
If you want to protect your child - keep him/her in the back. |

Most vehicles have a fuse for the airbag(s) it may be that passenger side and drivers side have separate fuses, look in your fuse box for the card (schematic of your fuse box) it should be listed on the there,alternatively contact your dealer and he will be able to help.It won't cost much to phone the dealership. So if you remove the fuse for the airbag on the side you're fitting the baby carrier, (passenger side I assume), then the airbag will not function. Just a final thought - I suggest you contact the police - as I'm not sure you are still allowed to fit child seats in the front of vehicles! If you are allowed - the seat must face the rear - of this I'm almost certain. Good luck, hope I have helped - sincerely- I do not wish to hinder you, stay safe. |
