Interstate/freeway driving - right, middle, or left lane?

Do you think drivers have a right to stay in the far left lane if going the speed limit or do you think drivers should drive in the right or middle lanes and only use the left lane for passing? I know the answer to this, but just want to see what other people think? (please check this question again for updates after 3 days)

The person who said any lane as long you're going the speed limit, you're 100% wrong and will likely cause an accident or road rage with that logic. The reason I posted this question is to educate drivers about proper lane use. It doesn't matter how fast you are going, there will always be somebody who wants to drive faster. You should never be in the left lane unless you're actively passing a car in the lane to the right of the far left lane and don't be driving side by side of the car in the lane next to you either. Speed up and pass or slow down and get over.
It's safer for speeders to pass in one lane instead of weaving in and out of traffic.
It doesn't matter if you're going 70 MPH in a 55 or 80 in a 70, you should never be in the left lane unless passing.
I'm not saying you should speed up when cars come up behind you, as long you're moving faster then the lane to the right & actively passing in a timely matter and get over a lane at the right time.

On a 3 lane high way the right lane is there to prepare to exit, the middle lane is there for travel and the left lane for passing. Most states will say if you exceed the speed limit you are breaking the law, but bear in mind, the flow of traffic also needs to be considered, if the speed limit is 55 and the flow of traffic is 65 and you move left and do 55 you are a road hazard ad can be fined for that as well even though you are doing the speed limit. As in any situation discretion and good judgment are needed, slower traffic should stay to the right or middle lane. |

Slower traffic KEEP RIGHT!
Some states have this as a law.
Other states have it so the left lane is a "passing lane" and you're ONLY supposed to use it for passing & can get a ticket for being in it for too long. |

Drivers should stay in the middle & right hand lanes and do the speed limit. The left lane should only be used for passing a vehicle that is going to slow. The left currently is used a the fast lane but in some states it is Illegal to stay in the left lane unless passing. |

"Stay Right Except to Pass" - that means, you're in the right lane either doing the posted speed limit, or less, i.e. Wide Loaders.
Pass in the left lane. It doesn't mean pass at 80+ mph. Some drivers drive as though they don't know the meaning of the words "Speed Limit." They quickly find out when they're pulled over-or find themselves in a split second going out of control and heading towards another car/cars, tree, guardrail, concrete median. |

Pass on left only, move back to right.
Far right lane is only for offramp support when there is an off ramp to support, otherwise stop wasting my tax dollars and get in the FAR right lane.
