Is 16 too young to drive?

I started driving at 16. I had to pass a defensive driving course first (required in NY), and my parents coached me a lot.

In addition to the amazing sense of freedom, learning to drive well at a young age taught me a lot about responsibility. I worked, bought my own car, paid for my insurance, and made sure the car was well maintained.

Based on my experience, I say 16 isn't too young to drive if the 16 year old is ready to exercise the privilege responsibly.

its too young to drive alone, by yourself but its ok if an experienced licensed driver with you.

depends on the maturity level of the 16 year old and their parents. I highly recommend a defensive driving course.

yes. i got my lisence when i was 16 after i passed drivers ed, and i got into two very serious wrecks in the first year i had my lisence. 16 is just too young to drive.

No, 16 isn't young but it's a question of lisence.
The authorities see that it's better to make a higher level (18 years old for lisence) such that the youngest shall be old enough

No, my mom and dad started to teach me when I was 10. Now I can drive any kind of car, truck and etc. They started me off on really rough dirt roads.The roads had pot holes, ditches, and rocks small and big. I live in New Mexico so there are a lot of dirt road to practice. ^_^

it really doesnt matter if its 16 or 18 people drive like idiots now a days i am going to have to admit though that 16 year old drive really bad but still people dont know how to drive at any age maturity has nothing to do with it a 40 year old can still be more immature than a 16 year old but no one says the 40 year old shouldnt drive

Yes, if you ask me, last year I was pregnant and this 16 yr. old girl rear ended me very bad, I don't think they realize the concept of responsibility that comes with the car keys. But then again, I started driving very young, and I'm a good driver.

Actually is not that the same age when i got my liscence, and i am now 26 and still driving with a clean record. Parents think its to early because they think we will have lots of friends in the car ofr we will not follow directions but trust me dont rush into it when your ready you are ready... GOOD LUCK!!!
