Is a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser safe? Are the lack of airbags in such a vehicle a deal breaker?

I am interested in a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser. I love the style/body and reliability, but I don't know if they're safe. Does anybody know anything about their safety? I know they don't have airbags...so is that a deal breaker? I want to know that I am safe. I would really appreciate a response.

Humans survived quite nicely BA (BeforeAirbags). If you like the car buy it and just drive safe.

No a deal breaker and I have worked on many of these and they are very safe but the only issues are that these vehicles are very expensive to both maintain and repair......
