Is a 2004 Kia Sedona mini vans driver seat suppose to break in a car wreck if rear ended?

I was rear ended and my seat broke, I was not able to see were I was going, reach my steering wheel, nor reach my breaks. I have been told no they are not to break and I have been told yes they are for safety reasons. I have to see a back specialist because T8 and T11 are fractured.

seats are designed to break with hard rear end hits to protect your neck, be thankful you lived to ask this question. I've been in the collision industry for 37 yrs.

the seat is not suppose to break, but if you hit anything with enough force it will

There are on recalls nor technical service bulletins of this vehicle for seat problems and depending on how hard you were hit anything can break.
