Is a parking brake and a e-brake the same thing?

i know this might be obvious just making sure.

No a parking brake and a E-brake is not the same thing most people will call the parking brake the emergency brake but cars do not have emergency brakes... the parking brakes purpose is to hold the rear brakes so the rear wheels don't move so if you are traveling down the road and you pull the parking brake the back of the car will most likely slide out from behind you. so a parking brake and a E-brake are not the same thing and dont use them while traveling down the road its very dangerous

Stupid people call the parking brake an emergency brake because they do not know the proper name or usage for the parking brake.

Yes and no. Originally the emergency brake was there to use in the case of regular brake failure, in a way it still is. However some dumba## decided in her infinite wisdom to pull th e-brake in an emergency, because she thought it was better than using the service brakes. Because the auto manufacturers neglected to specify which emergency it was for, they lost a lot of money to lawsuits, and have subsequently changed the name to parking brake. I think it was the spirit of darwin, trying to eliminate one more detriment to the gene-pool.

My 'parking brake' is now an 'Emergency brake'. I have had the ratchet mechanism removed so that it no longer functions as a parking brake.
I drive mainly country roads that are comprised mainly of clay and loose gravel; and I drive these roads at what could be best described as illegal speeds. Because of this there are scenarios where the use of the front and rear brakes in unison would not be prudent. To that end I use rear wheel braking a fair bit.
So,yes; I have what looks like a parking brake handle coming up out of my floor. It simply does not function as one.

yes an ebrake is soming to stop a car fast by locking up the weels
parking brake stops the car from moving and can be used to drift
