It's true that mistakes can invalidate the ticket, however, ports is just shorthand for portsmouth, so I don't think you have a case I'm afraid |

Sorry, but yes it is. Before you start getting people telling you to get a lawyer, ya da ya da ya da, just pay the ticket and get on with your life. |

If you refuse to pay, the final arbiter is a County Court judge based on the balance of probabilities. He's not going to let you off because they wrote Ports instead of Portsmouth. If they got the location totally wrong you might stand a chance. |

Afraid it is legal. Abbreviations are acceptable. |

Hi Chris,
Pompey parking attendants..the worst thing after the council got control of on street parking.
simply yes, if the date and reg is OK and the name of the road, town, then its considered to be valid, but its should read, eg commerical rd, not high st if you get me..
im not in favour of arguing for the sake of it, but try this site!
http://www.pepipoo.com/
it will advise what is right and wrong!.
and yes they do get commission in pompey.
hope this helps, but try the website...
good luck, merry xmas |

You can fight this ticket, but generally, the officer who wrote the ticket can amend (correct) the ticket in court.
Good luck. |

abbreviations are allowed, but if it was parked on High Street Portsmouth and the ticket read 'Commercial Street Portsmouth' or 'Queen Street Portsmouth' then its invalid |

it depends if the ticket was issued by a police officer or a traffic warden.
You could argue the toss if it was an officer but not with a traffic warden tickets. they'll write the ticket out and then they photograph the car at it's location where the ticket was issued. |

The ticket is legal, you can't just ignore it. Errors of fact are grounds for appeal and you might get it overturned. Minor things like spelling errors, abbreviations, won't help your case |

No. Appeal them all.
It costs local authorities more to argue than it does to collect.
If enough people appeal...the Councils don't bother and let them off! |

NO!!!
I had this done in Poole..wrong road it said on the ticket parked in a place where loading/unloading is not permitted i checked out the road where i supposedly was contacted them about it and they didn't fine me |
|

?

no thats still a leagal ticket if you don't believe it call a lawyer instead of asking people who don't know about it...but yes its still legal because its sort for portsmouth and you can't dispute that without looking stupid in court yourself. |

Fight every ticket even if you know you are wrong. It costs more in court time and officer to show up than the ticket is worth. Always make them prove you were wrong. What will the officer use as evidence that you were parked where you were ticketed?
On a moving violation your fine is only a fraction of what you pay once your insurance company is done with you. |

if there is ANYTHING not 100% spot on correct about the ticket, then deffo appeal it, even things like if the guy didn't sign it properly, anything silly and small like that
APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL!!
even if it ends up you have to pay it anyway, it's worth trying!
You have a certain period of time to pay a reduced fee and if you appeal it, the 'pauses' the time so even if you have to pay it, you can still pay the reduced fee
don't send the ticket back when appealing tho, just a letter with the ticket number and your reason for appealing! |
