Is having a truck worse than having a car?

Trucks have a higher center of gravity, and are more likely to roll in an single car accident. If you know how to drive safely, they can be as safe as a car. |

Dumb drivers cause accidents. Not cars or trucks. |

I COMPLETELY AGREE with Pathfinder.... Trucks don't have accidents, poor driver judgment causes accidents. They are larger and substantially heavier than other automobiles on the road and as a result are viewed as potentially more dangerous than a car. It is true that pickups and SUV's consume more fuel than a typical car, but that is related to the weight of the truck and engine size. The higher center of gravity can cause issues in panic steering maneuvers leading to roll overs. If you are a younger, less experienced driver, perhaps start with a smaller vehicle and really develop good driving practices and move up to a larger vehicle later on?? |

I OWN BOTH A CAR AND TRUCK AND THERE ARE PROS AND CONS TO BOTH.
YES FOR EXAMPLE GAS. IT COST TWICE AS MUCH TO FILL THE TRUCK UP, AND GET LESS MILES PER GALLON. I HAVE NEVER FOUND IT TO COST MORE TO INSURE MY TRUCK. I THINK THE BIGGEST FACTORS YOU HAVE WITH INSURANCE ARE YOUR TICKETS AND ACCIDENTS.
I NEVER HAVE TO ASK ANYONE TO HAUL SOMETHING FOR ME. MAKES ME SELF RELIANT. AND NO PEOPLE DO NOT BUG ME ALL THE TIME.
IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.. PEOPLE WILL JUST RUN ME OUT OF THE WAY IN MY CAR. THEY ARE BIGGER THAN ME AND THEY USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE.. SO A TRUCK WOULD BE BETTER THERESOMETIMES.. BUT CARS ARE EASIER TO MANUEVER... SO YOU SEE,,,, IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER,, JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU LIKE. AND WHERE YOU GET THE BETTER DEAL.. GOOD LUCK |

Besides the cost of the truck and gas. The truck is safer in accidents, unless you're getting small truck. They tend to flip over on quick turns/high speeds. I have a truck and I love it. Its the gas mileage that bothers me, but i enjoy driving it. |

Trucks don't cause wrecks, truck drivers cause wrecks because they overestimate their abilities. If you're a good driver, it won't make a difference. |

Ok, I'm not an American but been over there a fair bit........
I remember hearing somewhere that trucks don't need to meet such high safety ratings.
The truck will roll a lot easier than a car, the truck will take longer to stop than a car, a car is designed to protect the occupants in a crash, like crumple zones, where as a truck doesn't have these (Maybe the brand new ones do)
the truck won't corner as well as a car, although the truck may have 4WD.....Oh and they'll drink more gas - Maybe a diesel engine would be a better choice for fuel mileage??
(Based on you can get the stuff lol) |

A truck is a truck.
A car is a car.
People who drive trucks like a car crash. |

They have the highest safety ratings. The bigger the truck, yes, the more damage you will do if you hit another vehicle. Maybe a small one would be good for you. |

Vehicles do NOT cause wrecks, careless drivers do. |

If you get a truck people will not stop bugging you for moving stuff for them and wanting to borrow it. So get a car and be done with them. Yes as far as causing accidents people try to pass them because they block the view and get into bad accidents when they pick the wrong time to pass. |

they use a lot more gas, and if you ever have a friend that needs help moving, you're pretty much screwed. |

Depends on your needs.
I have a 1972 Ford with a 12" lift and 40" boggers (makes excursion look small)
It has a 460 big block, and I have never had a tippy feeling even going up hills, but again I know how to drive.
I built the truck from the frame up, so I know that the bad drivers cause trucks to roll - anyone who thinks otherwise don't know how to drive.
As far as helping move - LOL - I wanna see ya put a couch in there HA_HA_HA |
