i had to change a tire but do not have a spare tire. will it be okay to leave the jack supporting the car overnight or until noon one ish tomorrow? i put a second jack where the tire used to be so it is supported by 2 jacks...
let me know asap

I do not have a jack stand available ... otherwise i would use it

It will be fine, especially with 2 jacks.
NEVER use a jack underneath the Rear or Front axles!
ALWAYS use the designed support points on the car.
Hydraulic jacks are FINE....they wont leak unless they are cheap or old....and that is extremely rare too.
If your going to use a hydraulic jack, buy one with a locking bar, so you can slide the small bar thru the hole and LOCKS the jack, regardless of hydraulic pressure.
Your can safely use wooden blocks or stumps, as long as they are very solid, obviously......wood will hold, but i dont recommend it unless you know what you're doing.
I also woulnt use cinderblocks, since they can suddenly crack or giveway. |

Unless you plan to sleep under the car then just leave the jack under it. If it's the mechanical jack that came with the car it won't budge. If it's a hydraulic jack the worst that will happen is it will leak off and car will lower itself. As long as jack and car are on good solid ground nothing bad is going to happen. |

It is very risky, find some pieces of timber that you can put under the car near the jacking point, or even under the axle you took the wheel off, any type of jack can collapse if left under stress for a long time. |

Actually, I used to used to lower the car under a cut-off tree stump, that way no vandal could drop the car on to the road and do damage to it.
And if it is a hydraulic jack, definitely do not leave it supporting the car, the seal will go. |

Never leave an car unattended when it is on a jack. That is one of the first things they teach mechanics.
If someone were to get at the car and drop the darn thing they could injure themselves (or worse) and you would be liable. One wouldn't leave a loaded gun on their workbench. Why would they leave a 4000 pound weight suspended on a car jack? |
