No cops will say you looked suspisious which gave them reasonable doubt. One of the many things they use to put themselfs above the law. They (ones who do reasonable doubt searches) have no respect for this country or the constituition of the USA. Yes I'm bitter! I was searched once for having california plates and a black man in the car with me in burlington ND. I was "all over the road" at 25mph in the middle of the afternoon while stone cold sober. HMMMM Nice try pig, we just so happened to be going a different route home from our jobs on active duty service in the military. |

Only if the cop has probable cause or you give him consent to search. |

No, the only thing I could think of is maybe someone tipped them off about some of your activity. When they pull you over for a seat belt violation, the only thing they are doing is citing you for that make sure you have your seat belt on before you drive off and that's it. If they are searching your car, and they have no probable cause, you can ask them to stop, give you the ticket(if there was one) and let you be on your way. Something sounds fishy to me! |

I have had my car searched for a seat belt ticket b4, i have had my car searched a few times and it has always been for some stupid reason like speeding.
The only good thing that comes out of having your car searched is that it take abut 20-30 min and the cop will usually not give you a ticket for anything if they dont find anything.
a cop needs to be a real A-hole if they give you a ticket after making you wait for them to search the car and find nothing, |

In the US, the police must have probable cause to search your vehicle or you must give them permission. They cannot just search your car - it's illegal and unconstitutional.
Probable cause would include visually seeing something (like seeing a bag of weed), smelling marijuana, etc. But if they ask, and you say yes, then they can search. |

If you look like or act like some one that needs to be searched then yes it is. |

It happened to me once. I was trying to fasten my belt and the cop thought I was hiding something. |
