It's just as dangerous as anything else she would do. You can't predict the future. I'm sure that if she were flying, she wouldn't be second guessing it as much, but it is just as dangerous.

Tell her to remember that the coach bus drivers are excellent drivers and will probably have made that exact trip hundreds of times before. It is probably 10x safer than if she were driving herself!

It's common to be nervous about a thing like that, but you can't let fear get in the way of living. She will be fine, and I'm sure she will have a great weekend!

There is no way to know for certain what the road conditions will be at any given time. Bus drivers are better than the average passenger vehicle driver, which may not be saying very much. If the bus company has a good reputation, then one might be inclined to go. But if there is any doubt or feeling of uncertainty, then one should ask - do I really have to do this right now? Individual choice.

Safety first:

If in doubt, do not experiment or do trial and error (it is her life at stake)

It is normal for snow fall during winter nights, so the road can be icy and slippery

However, that does not mean the coach bus will definitely crash although there is some danger

I hope she is does not have to agonise during the weekend. So it it is not an emergency, do not go during winter night. Postpone the trip to better weather/climate

Bus drivers go through a certain level of training and tend to drive carefully, coaches,public transit,taxisâ€¦ are usually now also required to have winter tires
But you wonâ€™t need them.This is a well traveled route so you should be fine.

On a coach I would be more concerned about something brutal like the Mc Lean stabbing/decapitation on greyhound naer winnepeg.There was another similar(but not fatal)incident near where I live recently too.

Buses are very safe to travel on.Way safer than a personal car.If the weather is too bad,it won't leave the bus station.

I can't see any accidents in your friend's immediate future, but I can see a great time to be had in Chicago in December. Your friend should be less anxious about the unknown and more receptive to a great party in Chicago.
