It is better to have the airbag activate regardless of whether you are wearing glasses. Wearing glasses would be the least of your problems. |

If you wear glasses what option do you have? No one expects when they leave in their vehicle that at some point on their trip an air bag will deploy. Contact users are no safer than those with glasses on. When the air bag comes out it is like a bullet out of a rifle. In my job, I've seen broken noses, broken cheek bones, broken fingers, wrists and hands (a natural reaction to shield the face when something comes at it) so if the bag hits your face it can shatter whatever was at the point of impact. People who wear contacts should be aware of this. They save lives, make no mistake, but they can also injure you in doing so. |

There have been cases where people have been knocked out by airbags, and they deploy with enough force to kill a small child, so they would have no problem smashing a pair of glasses. If the lenses were made of plastic as opposed to glass, then I suppose there would be a significantly less chance of being injured by shrapnel, but at any rate it probably wouldn't feel good. Still in all, the probability of being injured would seem to be so insignificant, that the ultimate answer to your question would be "No." |

Probably. I mean, if you get smacked in the glasses by something going however many miles per hour an airbag travels (220 mph according to wikipedia) I'm sure it would either hit you (the glasses) or shatter causing other potential problems. |
