on my car, one of the mirrors broke. the ones u use to see back on ur right and left. its kinda hanging off so i think its gonna fall off. is it illegal to drive witout one of them? im going to try and get it fixed this weekend, but thats a whole 3 days from now. and i work everday.

its the right one, and the mirror is not broken but the thing that holds the mirror is hanging off. is it illegal if it brakes off completly?

Depends which mirror. The left side mirror is required by law, while the right one is not. Will you get a ticket if the left mirror is hanging off? It seems to me very unlikely, especially if you can still see behind you using it. If you get pulled over just explain that you can still use it, and will get it fixed as soon as you can. And then go get it fixed as soon as you can.
If it's the right side mirror, don't worry about it too much, but I'd still get it fixed because it's awful tough to back up without it. |

The left is required by law, the right is not. However, you can still get a ticket for unsafe equipment if the mirror is hanging off or in pieces. In the eyes of the law, whatever is left of the mirror can fly off on the highway and into the person behind you.
Get it fixed as soon as you can. If there is a loose piece of it still on, try to take it off in the meanwhile to avoid a ticket.
Look on ebay or junk yard for a used mirror. Getting one from a dealer is very expensive. |

look this is the law...... the mirror on the left side of the car has to be there and in working order. the mirror on the right side of the car is not required by law, but if it is broken and is still on the vehicle then it is a danger to you and the other motorist on the road. this is something that needs to be removed or fixed right away. if this mirror should fall off while driving an accident could occur and you would be at fault. try to get this done immediately. |

It is not illegal to have a mirror off nothing's wrong with, well my moms friends car has his mirror off and nothings wrong with that so dont worry ,just get a new one and if costs alot of money have a friend help you out. |

Yes. But you may only get a fix-it ticket. You are cited but the citation is voided when you show proof that the item has been repaired.

FMCSR REGULATIONS REQUIRE 1 REAR VIEW MIRROR OR 2 SIDE REAR VIEWING MIRRORS.
HOWEVER IF THE ABOVE MIRROR IS DANGLING OFF OF THE CAR I WOULD REMOVE IT TIL THE PROPER REPAIRS ARE MADE |

Its is illegal to drive with abroken mirror. I would try to avoid driving that vehicle and drive another. It is a danger to yourself as well to others. |
