It's not a criminal offence to display P plates on a car if the driver isn't a P plater, but it IS ticketable. On the flipside, It IS illegal for a P plater to drive without plates up, in every state except SA where the rules are a little different.

If you're a P plater, you can display as many as you want, as long as they don't "obstruct the everyday operation of the vehicle". That means not in the windsheild in front of the driver, or covering plates, etc.

if you just got your lisence you need to display at least one on the back and front, it's up to you if you want to display more it's not illegal, just gives more warning to other drivers, but why?
