It probably is illegal, but whether it is or not, it is damned stupid and very dangerous- not only to the driver but to the poor soul with the carful of kids who gets in the way just as the shoe slides off or jams under a pedal. |

I remember my drivers ed teacher saying something about it being illegal to drive barefoot, but that was years ago. i really don't see any problem with it. |

It depends upon your state and the laws there. In AZ, it is not illegal. BUT-I don't know what state you reside in. |

I'm sorry, I really don't have any knowledge on this subject.
But from common sense, I highly doubt it, and if so, tons of people disregard that legality. I have never even considered the legality of driving while wearing flip-flops, but what would be the cause of driving while wearing flip-flops anyway? |

No. It is not legal to drive in a way in which you are not in complete control of the vehicle, but there is no dress code for driving your personal vehicle.
(Some localities do have dress codes for taxi drives and such, so it is possible that it would be illegal in that jurisdiction if you were driving a cab!) |

I learned to drive in barefeet. Does the flip flops cause your feet to slip in the flop on the pedals? My daughter was wearing some the other day, and her feet were slipping left to right and falling out of them, I suppose it depends on the style.
Oops, now I read above how it is illegal to drive barefeet. Shhhhh, I didn't really say I did. Hahahaha! |
