Is it legal to hit a car if it's blocking your driveway?

Call a towing service they will move it or even the police...but don't hit unless you want to pay for the damage.

Here's a wacky idea. Why not politely ask your neighbour to move the car a bit, so you can get yours out?

Even if it was legal to bash the car out of the way, it's hardly a nice thing to do - and you'd end up damaging your own car. Calling the cops against someone you live next door to for something as petty as a 6 inch overhang sounds a bit excessive to me...

No, not legal. It would still be your fault or whoever was driving as they backed into the other vehicle. Fairly cut and dried slam dunk case for any insurance adjuster.

I would try to find the neighbors who have all of the company and politely resolve the issue first. If that fails go to step #2...

Step #2: Post a sign stating that vehicles blocking the driveway will be towed at the owner's expense. Once you have posted this information, you SHOULD be fairly clear as far as legal ramifications are concerned, but double check with your local P.D.

that would be fault of both. also you can call police, and the owner of auto blocking drive-way will be cited. it is illegal for even you to block your own drive-way. call police dept. and ask them.

Um. No. It's never legal to deliberately hit another car. Just like it's never legal to hit a pedestrian, even if he's crossing against the light.

If you hit a car that is not moving, it is your fault. There is noone else to blame but you. Yeah the car should not have been there, so you should tow it. But if you hit it then you should have been paying attention to where you were driving, and that is as simple as it gets. A friend of mine came home a couple months ago saying he hit an illegally parked car on camera, but it's OK, it was illegally parked. I laughed at him and said to watch his mail. Sure enough about a week later he got a summons for a hit and run.

if it is in your driveway,even a little bit you can sell parts off of it,you cant sell the car or nothing but you can part it out,if it is on a public street call it in as a abandoned car to the city
