It's a medium size flag. I was thinking about putting it over the cab of my truck. ;)

Yes, it's legal.
Use a flag with printed stripes instead of the more expensive sewn one.
They are lighter and take the wind better. They don't fray as much.
You may want to reinforce the stitching.
Extended highway travel can shred a flag.
Please keep it in good shape, trim it as necessary, and replace it when it gets too short. |

I don't know how you are putting over the cab of your truck. I don't think that it is proper placement of a flag. There is a book on flags that tell how they are to be displayed. Can put them on a holder that is attached to bumpers - like the diplomatic cars and I've seen them attached to the windows or the top edge of the cars by the window but they are up and flow, not laying down at all.
You can't by law put anything up that would obscure sight from any window. That is traffic.
Then there is respect for the flag and it can be hung from a building with stars in a certain place or it can be flown on a pole - right direction only. Half staff for funerals. There are rules on how to destroy a flag. There is a book you can get from your congress people to show you how to properly display a flag. I don't know that someone would arrest you for improper placement of a flag. There are versions of paint, etc. that can be painted on the cab and that is a better means of displaying the flag. Used to arrest people for desecrating a flag but that went down in Vietnam era when it was taken to be a means of communication or 1st amendment rights of free expression.
Only reason illegal as to traffic as far as I know would be where something would obscure sight or be too distracting. |

As long as it doesn't obscure your vision, then no but a police officer "could" ticket you because he or she could say that it is a distraction.... |
