i need to know if thats ok to do..or using defrost is better?
if ur in hurry and windows are icy..can i just throw warm water on windows?..or leave on defroster for awhile?

That's a really bad idea, buy some spray de-icer and wait an extra few minutes, please!! |

I have done it and been ok, but there is probably a danger of cracking the glass, esp. if the water is too hot. |

Warm water no, hot water heck no!. That's stupid because it will cause your windows to break. So you should use defrost, or just crank up the car a little bit early so it can warn up. I would rather be 30 seconds late then spend a couple thousand $ on a news win shield. |

If your window has a chip or crack in it the crack will run across the whole window.
If the window is in perfect condition it should be fine. If you live in minus 20 temperatures then I would just warm up the car. Try putting a beach towel over the windshield at night. |

I would not suggest it unless you would like to purchase a new windshield for yours having a big crack in it. |

Definately not. If you want a good way to cover you windows, cut 2 pieces of cardboard to match the size of your windshield, cover them in a plastic garbage bag and put them under your wipers. When you go out in the morning, no scraping. |

doing this may also freeze your wiper blades and the air intake system for the heater which is usually below the wipers |
