When I'm the driver I'm just not a fan of driving if there are 3 or more other people in my car. Like I find it to be a distraction or something. I'm okay with 2 or less, but once it gets above that number I just feel somewhat distracted and therefore don't like doing it.
Is this considered rude? I feel rude when me and another person are driving 2 separate cars and ask if only 2 people can come with me, while the rest hop into the other persons car.
Additional Details
I'm 20 years old and have only been driver for 2 years so far. I agree with my mother when she says drivers need at least 4 years of experience to be considered a pretty good driver. And I don't blame some state laws who say teens aren't allowed to have more than x amount of friends in a car.

There are some states that don't allow young drivers to have any similar aged passengers in their car unless those passengers are siblings. Young drivers can be distracted and they can be easily encouraged to speed or take other dangerous actions. (Like kids getting out of high school showing off at nearby intersections, etc.)
Stick to your guns! It is your car and your license at stake!

What I do to tell people I don't want them in my truck is ask for 5 dollars for gas and then they say oh I don't need a ride anymore |

No not at all, personally i think it is safer with that many people in the car. if they have a problem with that they could always find another ride but it's what ever you want to do |

It's not rude and it's your car but if you and friends are going somewhere then I don't see a problem with having 3 people in the car with you. I have a 2 door coupe so I can only drive with 1 other person in the car because my back seat is made for small children and it's hard for adults to fit back there. Also since my car is my baby I'm really the only person that drives it and don't drive that often with people in my car. It's your car so you can do what you want and don't worry about what other people think. |

its your car...rude or not, if your friends do not wish to abide by the rules of your car, they can always walk!
I once drove 50+ miles with 4 others in the car with me, didn't bother me at all...now cell phone and driving, or people smoking or drinking in my car is a no-no. |

It is not rude! You do not like the distractions and place safety first. If the other party can't get over that, let them ride the bus. |
