Is it safe for someone to drive a car in a parade a week after they have passed their test?
|
Is there any insurance reason why someone cannot do this?

Driving in a parade can be very different from normal driving. Like racing on a race track at high speeds requires considerable experience. Driving at stop & go low speeds, as in a parade has a special set of rules & one should have considerable driving experience.
Your insurance company may not be liabel in this instance, since you have "chosen" to drive in an un-safe, specialized environment. This would apply in the same way for racecar drivers. Sometimes the parade organizers provide a special, temporary liability insurance for drivers in the event. |

if you are driving it privately there is no reason whey you can not drive it in a parade in other words if no one is paying you to drive the car you can. a normal insurance should cover it |

you'll be fine to drive in a parade on a public highway, as long as your have a valid British driving licence, so if you passed last week, then your fine. just make sure you have good clutch control. |

Yes they can. As soon as that licence is in their hands, they can drive where ever they want.
If they have to ask a question like this though, that tells me that they are not confident enough yet though.
I would advise that they do a lot of driving in the week to gain the confidence needed to be on the road full stop.
A lot of people fail their tests several times over so this person (if it's not you) should feel proud on themselves and GO FOR IT. |

I dont see a reason why not, as long as they have a license and insurance then go for it |

I don't know about other countries, but in England it's not illegal and you will still be covered by your insurance if you wish to drive in a Parade. As long as you are confident enough and have good clutch control then you'll be fine....otherwise I wouldn't do it just yet. The last thing you would want to end up doing is either 'bunny-hopping' or causing the car to suddenly jolt forward, with the risk of injuring somebody. |
