Personally I hate this, I think the damn dog needs to be in the back. How in the world can you react to something when your dog is in the way?? |

maybe you should take your small dog to starbucks, and discuss how he feels about this over a cup of coffee......it would only be dangerous to the dog when the steering wheel of your car cuts him in half after you hit that 18 wheeler that you didnt see because you were too preoccupied with the dog in your lap..... |

It`s senseless as well as dangerous, displaying a total lack of respect and consideration for other road users. |

Not only is it unsafe, in Britain at any rate, it is illegal. |

it is very dangerous like teenager talking on cell phone and people putting on makeup, people shaving, people eating and drinking their breakfast etc..... |

Geez Nicole, are you still trying to stir up trouble for Paris? (heehee - just kidding!) Of course it's dangerous and unsafe - if talking on a cell phone is banned, then this is a no-brainer that should already be on the books if it isn't already. |

Of course it is dangerous as animals are unpredictable and should never, EVER, be near the driver but should be safely secured either with a harness or behind a dog guard if the animal is large. I sincerely hope the mindless owner of that dog is stopped and fined by the police, for all our sakes. |

It is a dangerous. I love dogs. But, seriously, I want to live. Drivers with dogs on their laps could potentially make crucial driving mistakes. |

I do believe if a cop sees you, you will get a ticket. It's like having a small baby on your lap, also go to a pet supply store and get a doggy seat belt for yer pooch, if you don't have a harness or good collar, get one! You simply clip doggy belt to main seat belt. Have you ever seen what happens to untethered kids and pets? It's not pretty, and rarely survivable. |

I used to have a small lap dog, but would NEVER have it on my lap while driving, what I did was to tie his lead to the safety belt on the passenger seat, that way he was near enough to be happy, but safe enough to be legal. |

I really appreciate people who love their pet or any other animal.
But that does not mean that you should risk your life by letting them ride in your lap while driving and it may be a threat to others life too.
We love our children, but we don't take them in our lap while driving. |

Depends on how good the dog is at steering |
