that you can't let your kids ride in the front seat of a vehicle in michigan?

well i know the laws here i live in missouri and my grandpa lives in michigan and that's what my grandparents told me so i didn't really know

I think only if they are only under 50 lbs.
Besides, it is not safe for children to be seated in the fron of the car until after they are 12. Before that, they are too small for their seatbelts even with a booster.
Children should ride in the back and properly buckled. That was the rule my mom had (except for the buckled part because our car did not have seat belts)

It's true in a lot of states, for kids/people under 4' 9" in VA and from what I found on google, Michigan as well.

i thought the kid had to be 80 or 85 pounds or something to ride in the front seat.

That is true I believe they have to be 4'8" or taller before they can.

If they are small enough to be injured by an airbag, they should not ride in the front in any state.
