Yes! When you buy a new car they have the mileage for city mileage and highway mileage, you get better gas mileage on the expressway, then in the city, because of all the stop and go. Happy New Years and Happy Safe Driving. |

yep. Stop and go kills the gas mileage. Freeway, always gets better gas mileage, unless you're in gridlock. |

It is true if you are driving at lawful speed. It takes less energy to maintain velocity than to accelerate a mass to that velocity. |

yes back street you go about 25 to 55 mph and the best speed to save the most gas is 65 |

yes definitely,
engine needs more power initially, so it requires more gas.
that's y stopping n moving forward on the backstreets car engine needs more gas.
as a result u'll get lesser milage on backstreets than that of on high ways. |

Well yes cause when your on the back streets your constantly stopping and starting and on the freeway your not. And it takes more gas to take off from a dead stop. Also any car lot will tell you that a car will MOST LIKELY get a few more miles to the gallon on open road than in town. Hope this helps Good luck |

yes and the difference is like 1-3 miles every gallon depends on how much heavy engine you got. |

Yes you most definitely use more fuel on back streets as you call it than on Freeways. Having said that, a lot depends on the size of your engine, the size of your vehicle and how fast you drive. Years ago in the USA they made it 55 mph on the Freeways and people did get better fuel mileage at 55 rather than 65. But over a long distance say of 65 miles you lost about 10 miles of driving over the period of one hour. In other words what you saved in a lower speed you lost by having to drive an extra 10-15 minutes. |
