Is my driving record screwed if i accidently went through a red light?

If you have no other problems with driving, this will not affect your license much. You don't even know if the cameras were on. If you are mailed a ticket, pay it. Life is too short to be worried all the time.

Even if you're charged, that doesn't mean your driving record is "screwed". You may have some points, but they aren't going to cut off your fingers for this. Even if they charge you, the time of day and condition of lighting may play in your favor. If they mail you a notice of violation and you feel like fighting it, you have a passing chance of winning--more so if you can hire a lawyer. I know someone who got off because after the officer testified, his attorney stood up and requested that the charges be dismissed because the officer didn't state that he was in uniform at the time of the stop. The case was dismissed. You have a much better chance with a lawyer. It's up to you to decide whether it's worth the extra expense, balanced against a fine and possible insurance rate increases.

You really have no defense for what you did. You can use your sun visor or wear sunglasses. Ignorance is no defense. Your driving record is fine, at worst you will get a ticket. That is only if they have red light cameras.

What I would recommend to you is never trust anyone else when you are driving. You are putting others in danger as well.

Fight the ticket if you get one, say the sun was in your eyes and the lights were not bright enough to see (as in the city is using unsuitable equipment for that location). Better yet, get a lawyer specializing in traffic offenses - they'll get you off 90% of the time.

At any rate, I don't think running a red is all that serious an offense anyways, in terms of points or fines.

For starters; If You haven't received any citations VIA mail I would'nt lose any sleep over this, however if You really want to make sure that you're alright with the law, just go to the department of Licensing and order an abstract of your record.
This will tell of any offenses you have.
Be real careful when you drive and always use Your Seat belt..

If the cameras got you, you may be getting a ticket, were you stopped when your brother told you to go? I do believe some states have passed a law that a motorcycle can go after stopping at red since they aren't large enough to trigger the lights.

If you received a ticket for running the red light, then it will show up on your record. However, one citation for a minor offense won't "ruin" your driving record. You can probably even get out of the ticket if you talk to the district attorney, and you haven't had any other offenses.

Only if you were cited for it. But I highly doubt one measly ticket would screw up your driving record too badly.

just pay the ticket and ask to do traffic school.....its much cheaper in the long run and you could probably use the refocusing!

For get your driving record. You are lucky you and your brother are still alive and well. Running a stop is a very , very serious thing!!! Keep in mind that if you are just doing 30 miles an hour and you run a stop an dare hit by a car doing 30 you have the impact of 60 miles an hour!

And you never just blindly do what the rider or anyone else in your car tells you! Really a dumb thing!

Look no one intentionally causes an auto wreck! It is always an accident. That is why it is called an auto accident. YOU can't have accidents when you are behind the wheel! One accident could cost you your life or someone else theirs!

Running a stop is soo terrible . Don't worry about your driving record worry about your fitness to actually dive!

In most states each type of violation recives a point value. The worse the violation, the more point it is worth. After you accumulate a set number of points, in a certain period of time, you may lose you driving privledges.

Well you should call the dmv and ask them.
