I read in drivers manual that speed is an important factor when making turns. I always have trouble turning because of speed, sometimes I go too fast and other times i just go too slow. Is there a range that I want to be in when turning?

There is no specific speed for making turns. A rule of thumb that I use is, if I feel my body bracing itself against the pull of the turn, then I am probably taking the turn too fast and I should slow down.

Depends on if you have a sportscar or clunky tall SUV. obviously you need to turn a lot slower in a bigger vehicle. But turning speed is all about experience and feel, so you'll get the hang of it. Its better to go slower than faster though. |

It depends entirely on the road and the type of turn. There is no answer to this. I think your best bet is to practice. |

The speed limits on the roads are normally set for the condition of that road.It pays to watch and obey the traffic signs.
A lot depends on the vehicle you drive, your tyres and suspension, and how well you know the vehicle.
Experience normally tells one how to drive, like knowing when to change gear by listening to the revs etc.
In town driving and driving on the highways has all got to do with experience. Just taske it easy while you are learning and obey the road rules and signs.There is no specific speed range , negotiating the turns correctly is the important thing. |

Well, if you drive a van, especially a loaded van, or a Toyota Echo or an American clunker, or something like that, it may be best to keep the speed of turn down to something you can confidently stay on top of - it might be 10 to 15 miles per hour on severe bends, perhaps a little more - unless you are were taught to drive by Juan Fangio himself. If your preferred ego-machina is (say) an Alfa Romeo, then it is not so critical so long as you don't lose your nerve at the last minute. But if you stay on the ball you should be able to negotiate even hairpin bends at not less than 60-70 miles per hour - unless you are a very experienced driver. Only problem is that unwary passengers tend to leave dents on the INSIDE of your doors. |
