Is there any way i can stop people parking/restricting access on the unadopted road at the side of my house?

If you have a lowered kerb you can stop them But if you have made the access yourself well??.Ring the council but you could be hanging yourself.

i would put up a sign that says: no parking. violators towed at owner's expense---and for the first week, advise the owners that they either move it, or lose it....and call for the tow truck to have the car yanked out.
if this unadopted road is like an alley that runs along the house, u could probably form a concrete barrier fairly easy, or u could again post signs stating that it's private property and that cars found here will be towed at owner's expense.

if the problem centers around a bunch that habitually park there...especially those parking in ur driveway, after u put the signs up, advise them that u will only give them 1 warning, and a time limit to haul out. after the limit, call the tow truck, and have the owner deal with the trucker while his ride is gettin hitched up for a ride to the salvage yard...or wherever they take em to.

can put signs out and then have them hauled away becareful though drive way you can have it removed but the other they have so much space to park but you can call the police and see.

If your drive is being blocked you can phone the police to have them removed - they are a hazard... Polite notes on the windscreen often help. As for the adopted road, not sure, if your access is being blocked you may have grounds to pursue, otherwise, check with your local council as to where you stand.

Council is most permanent, if you won the road and or rights to it. however they may rezone it to be residents only. else put in lockable bollards, treestumps, or as suggested before big stones, otherwise you can contract the space as private in which case again a permit system is neccessary.

If your drive is being parked in fornt of, put down some bollards and a big srive in constant use sign. Otherwise, go the offensive windscreen note way

I am familiar with adopted roads.

My only suggestion is to dig big holes and generally mess up the road so that they don't want to use it.

Another good trick is to get metal rods. all rusty and horrible about 3 feet long. Get a big hammer and hammer them into the road so they stick up about 18 inches.

Huge boulders as suggested are particularly effective too, and need not cost the earth.

Why not get a rusty old metal skip and put it in the road?

But if they are blocking your driveway, call the police.

Well about the road on the side of your house you really dont have much say over but if they are really bugging you you could try to put up a sign and if that doesnt work remove the sign and throw some tacs down where they park and after a few flat tires people wont want to park there any more. In front of your driveway now there you have some power. You can call a tow truck to tow them away or you can do like i did to some neighbors my mother used to have. I asked them nicely 5 times to move thier car so I could get out of the drive way and they ignored me so I put my car in reverse and slowly started backing out and once I was touching the car and they still ignored me I gave my car some gas and started pushing thier car out to the street. When they started yelling and screaming I told that they should of moved and then went and go my old man and some of his friends to go and park and stand around. Problem solved the neighbors moved the next week.

get large rocks heavy enough not to lift and put them along the grass so they can not park , make a sign outside your drive and threten cars being taken away
