Um why dont you wait until the wires show. Maybe if your driving down the highway it will blow. Then if we are all lucky you wont kill anyone while you skid out of control.
Please. Do us all a favor. Dont breed. |

Tells you all you need to know about UK laws regarding your car tyres. |
|

The Drunken Fool
|
they will measure all of the tread above 1.6mm, which will probably mean less than three quarters will be legal. Then they will go over the rest of the car and find things you never new about. |

It is still a defective tyre and if you are stopped you face a fine of £2500, 3 points on your licence and disqualification at the discretion of the court |

you should get a new tire,as it could be dangerous to you and/or others |

you need a new tyre but you should find out how the old tyre got like that. |

You won't get fined, they will give you a notice for you to get your tyre fixed, which for what one costs you may as well, as the cost would be far greater if you have a blow out and crash |

If a tyre is bald at all get a new tyre and check whats causing the problem, steering/suspension depend on which tyres front/back. |

if you like taking life in the fast lane, then dont change it,but it aint legal mate, get it changed and you will save your life and a few quid if the police stop you,and you could also harm others if it bursts at speed and you WILL lose control of your vehicle, believe me it happened to me and mine where all new ones, car a wreck but i live to tell the story(thank my guardian angel) |

yes its still illegal . you must have a full tread not a portion |

Your car tyers' will definitly need change because as the rains are continuing in India the untread part of the tyre is on the outer side , and God forbid, if you take a sharp turn some mishap may occur. You may be even booked if you have any casuality. So play safe!! |

Get a new tyre, it's all thats keeping you on the road, have your suspension checked while you're at it, it's not natural that this should happen! |

I would go to a garage and get it checked out to be honest.
They tyre may be Ok, but I would get it replaced. What puzzles me is the wear pattern. Its seems odd that the outside edge is worn but the rest is fine. I would be getting the car checked to make sure the wheel alignment is fine and there isn't any problems with the car.
If you get stopped by the police then you are in a difficult situation. I am not 100% sure of the law, but if a police officer queries it and you point out the rest of the tyre is fine, then you have admitted you were aware of the problem. |

wouldnt drive if i was you! |

I think you should get a new tyre unless you are skinned |
|

Nope nothing wrong with that as long as there is at least 1.6 mm of tread depth across the central 3/4 of the tyre and around the entire outer circumference.
However, I would still get it changed because with the wet weather and summer coming to an end, you want some good treat on your tyres.
One more thing - stop going round the roundabouts so fast and then you wont lose the tread on the outside of your tyres lol!! |

What is truly frightening, is the number of answerers who seem to think have having a bald section on your tyre is OK as long as the rest of it exceeds the minimum depth limit.
IT ISN'T!!!
If you have any area of the tyre devoid of tread (i.e. bald), it is an offence to drive the vehicle on a public road.
Full stop.
Period.
No ifs, no buts.
Illegal. |

You need to get a new tyre for definate as this tyre is unsafe. This is the best and cheapest thing to do as if you are in the UK you could be liable for 3 points on your licence and fines of up to £2.5k. Also, get the tracking checked and check the inside edge of the offside tyre as this could be wearing the same way if the tracking is out |
|

It is still legal providing the tread on the remaining three quarters of the tyre is above the legal limit.
My main concern would be why the rear tyre is wearing unevenly, should have the rear suspension checked out. |
|

Sawyl
 |
It's fine, as long as the central three-quarters has a depth of at least 1.6mm, all the way around the tyre.
Otherwise there's the potential for trouble. |

Get a new tire and be safe..... |

Well, it's TIRE, and you should get a new one. Don't worry about what the policeman might do, worry about what will happen if you have a blow out. You could lose control of the car and have an accident. |
