I am a horrible driver in the dark and a horrible driver in the rain. Fall semester starts tonight and we just got over Tropical Storm Fay and will most likely be experiencing severe thunderstorms tonight when I am going to be driving to school. I have to take the interstate and roads are already flooded. The instructor is not strict on attendance and will most likely understand, but I feel bad b/c its the first day. Once again I am a really bad driver in the rain, I get super stressed...should I go anyway?

Until somebody has given you lessons on driving in poor conditions, walk, take a bus, get a ride from somebody else, take a taxi, ride a bike, anything but drive. Your anxiety will make driving extra dangerous.
Don't blow off school unless it is a raging storm and nobody is going anywhere. There is a point where discretion is the better part of valour. |

If you don't have to - don't. One of the aspects of driving is to be aware of the roads we travel upon. If a road is flooded, you may not know the depth of the water and the next thing you know, you're seeing if you can walk on water. If you get a chance to see any news video of the area you're in, see how other vehicles are getting through (or not). Remember, if you get water in the exhaust, the engine is usually ruined.
