Just been travelling behind driver with green "P" plate on rear window signifying new driver. She was

straddling the centre white line in the road, travelling at 22mph, and eventually pulled into the side of the road with no indicator and stopped on a sharp bend causing havoc. Would you have given her a "pass" on her driving test?
Additional Details
No, I didn't hound her, or hoot etc. and did keep my distance, but I can ask, can't I!!!!

mim you have my promise that i will never get distracted from you again

some people who have just passed their test and go on the road for the first time on their own panic, and you must admit the roads are pretty frighting at the best of times for experienced drivers, never mind new drivers, at least she had the sense to have her green plate on

valda54
hey it might of been her first time on the road, Mr perfect, how was you the first time,, i was nervous as hell, you only start learning to drive properly after your test, been there done that, been driving 25 years and still learning, how about you?

NIGEL R
when you pass your driving test it only means you are competent enough to drive, it doesn't mean you are good at it you get that from years of experience.

sweet-cookie
She probably felt intimidated by you and other drivers .

Can you not remember, how it felt ,
when you first "took the wheel"

The new driver card, in her back window,
Should have given you the nod ,
to back off , and maybe, be just a little more tolerant

No doubt there was, a lot of impatient hooting
and scowls as you "the perfect drivers " finally managed to overtake.

To answer your question ..
. she must have been driving to standard , at the time of her test or she would never have pasted

If she was driving to standard, then
*YES i would have passed her, as being safe on the road.
( at that time )

Think before you condemn, there could have been
other issues going on there.

perhaps you ought to have hounded her people like her realy clog up the roads what was she doing 22 in a 30 for not indicating is not that big a deal if your road position for the menuver is ok as then you give other road users some idea of what you are doing. Do us all a favour and post her registration number so wecan all be aware of her

phuk1t
like any driver you just assume they have passed a test,so maybe the driver hadnt.

the instructor could teach a monkey to pass a set of tasks that amounts to a test pass.....you cant "teach" someone how to drive you can only guide them as with anything in life

damian
women drivers.

One of the biggest problems with the way people prepare for there driving test is to work on the assumption that if they pass there test they then are competent drivers.
Driving takes more than just passing a test.

It may have been her first time out in her car,
It's so frigtening not having an instructor for the 1st time,
She's also probably got a new car,
If you are such an experienced driver, then you will know that all clutches are different.
I passed my test 1st time with only 5 minors yet still after my test I was a wreck when I went out.
Perhaps you should be a little more tolerant of others,
And no one is born a good driver, it takes experience
You can be driving for 30 years and still forget to indicate

No chance, how did she pass in the first place? Ok some may argue she is new and nervous BUT she learned and took the test and must have driven correctly to pass. There is no excuse for all what she did. She had obivously forgotten everything she was taught.

No but then her phone probably went off and it had fallen in the well of the passenger seat so when she went to pick it up she swung out, straddling the white line and then realised that her last Malteser was also there, melting in the sun so had to stop and pick it up so pulled over quickly so as not to lose all the chocolate.... whats wrong with that?:)

The green 'P' signs are normally displayed by drivers who have recently passed their driving test.

Hell no.

I still can't fathom how some people pass. Must have been their lucky day.

I spent 25 years teaching students to drive many performed well on the test. Afterwards i have heard a few horror stories; IN one case i told the parents he wasnt safe a week later he turned to look at some girls and drove into a tree; You can lead a horse to water bnut he may not drink.
