Just crashed the car and I feel awful. Please help?

I'm 17 and haven't had a driving lesson as of yet. Today my dad said i could have a little go in our car so i said ok. He got me to reverse out of the drive and he didn't even tell me which pedal was which really. Our road is really narrow so basically I shot backwards and crashed into out neighbours' brick wall and now I feel totally awful and guilty even though it's easily fixed. So I don't really have a question but can anyone kind reassure me/cheer me up?

I let my 17yo son try and pull my mother's car into the garage. He touched the gas and the car shot forward, stopping less than an inch from the side wall. Close call. Being behind the wheel is very intimidating at first. It will take time to get used to driving, maneuvering, and especially having the other vehicles pass you on roads. Its an experience you had. One you have definitely learned from. Don't sweat it too much. I'm sure your father is feeling some guilt, too. He didn't properly explain everything needed before letting you handle machinery that requires skill to operate and deserves respect. |

Everybody does things that they are sorry and feel bad about, but things are always as bad as they seem. I am sure that it'll all work out for the best. Dad will fix it. Why cause your a special little girl to Dad and he can't never love a child more than you.
To a Dad no one little girl can be replaced in his heart. He loves you and he always will because in his eye's you can do no wrong. |

That's easy. Backing into a brick wall? You feel bad about that? I have three kids and I was a kid once myself. Parents almost expect you to wreck. I'll give you my first driving experience and it's the god honest truth. People are still talking about how I t-boned a cop car. Yes. I came up on a stop sign and I'm all cool cause I think I know the rules of the road, so I proceed and wham. Right into a cop car. Cross traffic didn't stop. Oops! Do not feel bad for backing into a brick wall. Your Dad is probably laughing on the inside. Things happen, you're young. Good Luck to you my friend! |

I'm sorry =( Well, your just starting out, so don't feel bad! Yesterday, I was at a drive through, and got too close to the side, and my tires were scratching. Then my dad went to help me, and I forgot to put the car in park, so the car kept moving and then hit something. Luckily, the car was okay, and no one was behind me. So I felt pretty stupid! And I've been driving for a year! And today, I failed my driving test again (well I had a horrible woman so it wasn't my fault, and I didn't even get to leave. She failed me for "not being able to follow directions" even though I was, and when I asked her what she said, she screamed at me). So don't worry, your situation is a ton better than mine! You'll get better =D I feel pretty terrible right now also, so we're in the same boat =D Don't stress about it, because it can't get any worse haha |
